Penny the Wolfhound's Story
Denis Marcellin-Little, a veterinary orthopedist, and Ola Harryson, an engineering professor, both at North Carolina State University, collaborated with Bio-Tech Prosthetics & Orthotics to design a prosthetic limb for Penny, the Wolfhound. Penny had her front paw amputated due to bone cancer.
The prosthesis helps Penny to maintain anatomical symmetry and reduces the stress to the rest of her body, which has to work harder after the amputation. The design of the prosthesis is extremely lightweight, durable, and streamlined, so that Penny can get around quickly and safely.
So, how do we know if this dog likes her new leg? The wagging tail should say enough.
